The Small Things...and It's Friday

"When it rains, it pours" they say. And that's exactly how this past week has gone for me.
I'll spare you the details. They're depressing and exhausting to talk about.

But, I did want to share with you what did make me smile today.
This simple bouquet of three day old red Tulips and a single snow white Stargaze Lily.
But most importantly, my Husband is coming Home this evening, after being away for 5 days on a business trip.
Happy Friday Everyone. And God Bless the Small Things in Life.

A Family That Cooks Together, Stays Together.

My Husband and I are both foodies. We love dining out and trying new hot spots around town. And living in the East Bay (Bay Area) there's certainly no shortage of cultural findings for food around here.
As much fun as we have eating out, for special occasions and date nights, there's nothing like making a home cooked meal, together at Home. There's no price tag I could put on spending time with my Best Friend, being creative together in the kitchen, making memories, and sharing laughs over a glass of wine. And lucky me, my Husband knows how to throw a meal together like a Pro.
Last Sunday, I had a hanckering for home-made cut-out sugar cookies. I got pretty jazzed about the whole idea too. Thinking of all the possbilities - which cookie cutters I wanted to use, what color frostings I had to have, and which sprinkles to decorate with. What was so cute about it all, my Husband asked if he could help. So he rolled the dough and I cleaned up the mess behind him. We laughed and teased each other about the huge mess we made, both covered in flour, and our lack of cookie decorating, but the cookies tasted scrumptious and we shared hugs, and laughs together while making them.

Things We Can Learn From Dogs

I came across this heart warming post from a blog I follow, La Mia Vita.  Even though I've never had the honor to have a dog, (always had cats) I am an animal lover of all kinds and feel they're all equally special to have around.
These are wonderful words to live by.

Things We Can Learn From Dogs

1. Run, romp and play daily

2. Never pretend to be something you're not
3. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy
4. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm
5. Take naps and stretch before rising
6. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them
7. Let others know when they've invaded your territory
8. Be loyal
9. When it's in your best interest, practice obedience
10. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it
11. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle gently
12. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
13. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree
14. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride
15. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body
16.No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout....run right back and make friends
17. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
18. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Now, make sure you go home tonight and hug and kiss you furry feline or pooch, or someone you love!

Baby, It's Cold Outside.

Maybe not that cold... but it is chilly!

I've pulled out my rain coats, my leg warmers, scarves of all kinds, mittens, gloves, you name it. But I'm thinking it's time for some new kicks to keep my toesy warm. I've never owned a pair of moccasins before, none that I can remember anyway, and I think it's time to have a pair. Just to wear around the house, or on a quick grocery run at night time. And I think these Bird Moccasinswould do the job just fine.

So Santa, if you're listening, I've been a very good girl this year. I swear...

'Tis the Season...for Food.

This is the first Thanksgiving that my Husband and I will be celebrating with his family as a newly married couple down in Southern California. Although it will be a fairly short trip down, we plan on packing in as much family time and exploring around town as possble.

This weekend I'm going to make matinee reservations for us to see "Love and Other Drugs" at the movie theatre in my husband's home town. It's called Muvico. Ever heard of it? It's the Neiman Marcus of movie theatres.
Muvico has VIP seating, complimentary popcorn, a gourmet restaurant, plush love seats, a 21 and over section in the theatre, accompanied by a full bar just a stone's throw from your seats. Ridiculous right? I can't wait to try it all.
Besides that we have several mutual friends that live in the area and we hope to bump into them for coffee, lunch or drinks Friday or Saturday.
As for Thanksgiving, it's going to be a smaller crowd this year at my In-laws house, probably around 10 people. So I've decided I'm going to make a delicious appetizer that I've perfected at other dinner parties I've thrown. It's easy to make, only a few ingredients involved, and it's super tasty. The combination of the flaky, buttery crust and the salty cheese is to die for.

Happy Thanksgiving!
